Course Structure and Content

Unit 1: Understanding Digital Technologies and AI in Education

  • Survey local and available digital tools and AI applications (e.g., AI chatbots, automated grading, adaptive learning platforms).

  • Analyse how these technologies support existing and new learning activities.

  • Explore theories and principles underpinning teaching with digital and AI technologies.

  • Investigate development of 21st-century skills (critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy) via technology.

Unit 2: Teaching a Lesson with Digital Technologies and AI

  • Plan and teach a lesson using digital tools and selected AI applications.

  • Demonstrate how these technologies promote active, motivating, inclusive learning environments.

  • Use formative assessment enabled by digital/AI tools to assess learner progress.

  • Reflect on lesson effectiveness, incorporating mentor feedback for improvement.

Unit 3: Evaluating and Collaborating on Digital and AI-Enhanced Teaching

  • Design learning activities using digital technologies and AI to develop specific skills.

  • Gather and analyze feedback from learners and colleagues on technology use.

  • Engage in collaborative development of technology-enhanced learning activities with peers.

  • Reflect on benefits, challenges, and practical applications of AI and digital tools in teaching practice.

Assessment Approach

Candidates will compile a portfolio with:

  • Evidence of observation and analysis of digital and AI use in teaching contexts.

  • Lesson plans, observer feedback forms, and samples of learner work showing AI/digital technology impact.

  • Written reflections linking practice to educational theories and concepts.

  • Collaborative activity logs and feedback analysis demonstrating peer engagement.

This course prepares practicing teachers to integrate emerging AI technologies alongside traditional digital tools, aligning with ASQF Level 2 expectations to advance their professional competencies and improve learner outcomes through technology-enhanced teaching.
