Course Title: Competency-Based Learning Resource Material Developer
Course Hour: 40-60 Hours (Depending on delivery format, i.e., face-to-face or online)
Course Description:
This course is designed for individuals interested in developing competency-based learning resources in vocational education and training (VET). Participants will learn how to design, develop, and adapt competency standards, curricula, assessment tools, and learning materials. The course covers both foundational knowledge and practical skills required for creating high-quality competency-based learning resources that align with industry needs and global trends. It emphasizes the importance of flexibility and adaptability in training materials for diverse learner contexts and emerging job roles.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Develop competency standards that clearly define skills and knowledge requirements for job roles.
- Design a competency-based curriculum that supports the achievement of specific competencies in learners.
- Create effective competency-based learning materials (CBLMs) to facilitate learning and assessment.
- Analyze training needs and develop training packages tailored to industry requirements.
- Adapt learning resources to suit local, national, and global contexts.
- Evaluate and review learning materials to ensure their relevance and effectiveness.
- Develop competency standards for emerging roles in response to industry trends.
- Create comprehensive facilitator guides to support the delivery of training programs.
- Develop valid and reliable assessment guidelines and tools.
- Integrate technology into the development of training aids to enhance learning experiences.

Assessment Methods:
- Assignments: Practical development tasks such as creating competency standards, curricula, and learning materials.
- Quizzes/Tests: Short assessments to test understanding of key concepts such as competency-based education, assessment principles, and curriculum design.
- Project Work: Development of a comprehensive training package, including competency standards, curriculum, learning materials, assessment tools, and facilitator guides.
- Peer Review: Participants will evaluate and provide feedback on the training resources developed by their peers.
- Final Exam/Capstone Project: Develop a complete competency-based learning package for a chosen occupation, demonstrating all the skills learned in the course.
Prerequisites:
- CBT&A Level 4 (NTVAQ/NSQF) in Training and Assessment
- Familiarity with training and assessment methodologies.
- Prior experience in teaching or training is preferred, but not mandatory.
