AGLAS to Launch Occupational English Test: A Specialized Assessment for the Workplace

AGLAS, a Course Accreditation and Assessment provider, is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its new Occupational English Test (OET). This specialized testing system is designed to evaluate English language proficiency within specific occupational contexts, addressing the growing need for targeted assessments in diverse industries.

While general English proficiency tests like IELTS and TOEFL serve important purposes, they often fall short of measuring the precise language skills required for success in specific professions. The AGLAS Occupational English Test aims to bridge this gap by providing a focused assessment of communication skills directly relevant to various occupations.

“In today’s competitive job market, demonstrating relevant English language skills is crucial,” says Khan MOhammad Mahmud Hasan, Director, AGLAS. “The AGLAS Occupational English Test will empower individuals to showcase their abilities in a way that resonates with employers in their respective fields. This, in turn, allows organizations to identify candidates with the precise communication skills necessary for success.”

The AGLAS Occupational English Test will be available for a wide range of occupations, including healthcare, hospitality, construction, IT, etc. Each test will be tailored to the specific language demands of the target profession, assessing skills such as:

  • Industry-Specific Vocabulary: Knowledge of technical terms and phrases relevant to the occupation.
  • Workplace Communication: Ability to understand and use English in common workplace interactions (e.g., meetings, presentations, client communication).
  • Reading Comprehension: Understanding of workplace documents (e.g., manuals, reports, emails).
  • Writing Skills: Ability to produce professional written communication (e.g., emails, reports, forms).

The AGLAS Occupational English Test will be offered intially in Test/Assessment centers and will provide detailed score reports highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
